2015 Travel Plans

by Jessica Amey

Last Wednesday I went to a travel event held at a gorgeous hotel called At The Chapel which, for once, wasn’t too far from me although it felt like way too far on the drive home which was a total disaster. Think broken sat nav, getting lost, terrible weather and too tired to remember to take the right roads!

At The Chapel is situated in Bruton which is such a lovely little town, I had no idea it was so nice as the last time I was there I was about 14. We used to get a taxi over to meet up with boys from the boarding school, driving past it brought back some very funny memories!

I never did the whole backpacking thing when I was younger, it was never of any interest to me but there are so many places I would love to visit now.

First up is the west coast of America, we are planning a road trip over there at some point in the next year or two and Mr C is actually working on a car project right now that he is hoping will lead to some kind of employment opportunity over there. We both have a real problem with the idea of living in one place and this winter has been a real wake up call for me. I can’t bear the cold weather, it makes me so miserable and I hate having to spend so much time indoors. We have been struggling to decide what to do about the whole schooling situation for a while now and although we don’t necessarily plan on home-educating long term we are pretty sure Cherry won’t start school for the first year or two at least giving us more time to travel and find somewhere to settle down.

Secondly is Amsterdam, it’s a city which means I will struggle to get Mr C there but it will happen!

Thirdly is a road trip around Italy, we went to Venice a few years ago and I fell in love with it so would love to travel around and see more of the country.

Fourthly is a skiing holiday. I haven’t been since I was a teenager but went loads growing up and always loved it. Once Tiger is a bit older I can’t wait to take them, kids are fearless on the slopes and I think the earlier you take them the better.

I also want to do a lot more travelling around the UK. We’ve had a lovely couple of holidays in the UK over the last couple of years, both with amazing weather and there is definitely something appealing about not having to do lots of travelling with small children.

We have a holiday with Bosinver coming up in March, it looks amazing there and I can’t wait. Then we are off to Bluestone in May which I am equally excited about, we couldn’t make it last year due to my operation but I’ve heard lots of great things about it and can’t wait to do some exploring in Wales.

In June we are planning a trip up to Scotland as there is a track designed just for drifting cars up there (or something along those lines!), our friends and their little girl are also going so we are trying to find a holiday cottage that we can all share. The trip will be 7.5 hrs there and back which should be interesting… I am hoping to stop off in York on the way back too as I used to live in that area and would love to go back and visit.

I would also love to go on a proper family holiday too, the kind where you stay in a hotel and just relax by the pool all day. Voucherbox have lots of hotel discount codes on their website so I am definitely going to be taking a look through them.

So I have lots to plan and look forward to, just need to win the lottery so I can afford it 😉

Where would you like to travel to this year?
