Bosinver Forest School Sessions And Trip To The Beach

by Jessica Amey

I’m back with the last blog post about my trip to Bosinver.

Pat, the lady who owns it, told me about how she wanted to create somewhere with enough to do so that families didn’t need to pay to go on days out during their time there. Days out can really bump up the price of a holiday so knowing that the kids will be entertained for free is a huge plus when it comes to choosing a holiday.

My first post covered the Gruffalo trail and animal feeding, my second post covered the accommodation, swimming pool and horse riding sessions and this post is going to look the wild kids sessions and the one free activity you probably want to do whilst in Cornwall, making a trip to the beach.

Bosinver run a Wild Kids session once a week which is basically the same as forest school. It runs for a couple of hours and you either go into the woods or because it was so cold and kept raining on and off we went up to a big purpose built shelter with a fire pit in the middle.

We started by making mud pies, the lady who runs these sessions is great with the kids…

Then we made stick people…

And finally all sat around a fire to toast marshmallows, something which we’ve never done before…

I love how many outdoor activities there are for kids to do whilst at Bosinver, I think being outdoors is so important even when it is freezing!

We had hoped to make a trip further down south to the coast during our time in Cornwall but as the weather was so unpredictable (snow showers!) we decided to save it for another time. We did however stumble across a little place called Charlestown and spend a little bit of time at the beach there.

It’s a bit of a shame it was so bitterly cold but we did get to go in one of the most exciting museums ever… or not 😉

We had such a great stay at Bosinver and I would recommend it to anyone.

On the way home we stopped off in Tintagel but again it was so freezing we didn’t make it to the beach, just a cafe for lunch where we had a burger, although to be honest it looked far better than it tasted!!

Here is the second part of my Bosinver holiday vlog too which covers the forest school sessions and trip the beach…

Thank you to Bosinver for inviting us to stay.
