Getting Emotional About Blogging

by Jessica Amey

This month has been a pretty big one in my three years of blogging.

A few weeks ago I found out I was a finalist in the craft category of the MAD Blog Awards and then yesterday I discovered I had been shortlisted in the craft category of the BiB’s.

I can’t even explain how much seeing my name on these lists means to me.

When I started blogging I had no idea there was any such thing as blog awards, nor did I have any idea about products reviews / paid posts / blog conferences.

I just loved the idea of sharing my life.

And ‘sharing’ my life has actually ended up ‘changing’ my life in a way I never thought possible.

It’s given me so much enjoyment that it shines through in every area of my life.

It’s helped me grow into a happier, more confident person.

It’s enabled me to stay at home and earn money.

It’s led to me making lots of new friends.

It’s sparked an interest in photography that saw me going from not knowing what DSLR stood for to using one in full manual mode.

It’s unlocked the creative part of my brain that no longer sees an empty shoe box and instead sees a toy laptop (post coming up soon!).

It’s made me a better partner and a better mum because I feel like I have an identity outside of those areas.

It’s helped me to like myself because for the first time in my life I feel like I am doing well at something.

Blogging is so right for me.

I think in Tweets and I see in Instagram photos.

This photo says it all, instead of thinking ‘hmm it’s pouring down with rain I really should walk back to the car quickly’ I actually thought ‘hmmm this is a perfect time to take a selfie’. Some people might find it ridiculous but then I think one day the kids might like looking back at these moments that otherwise wouldn’t have been captured.

And if all the money / blog awards / product reviews ended tomorrow then you would still find me here sharing my life because it’s just become a part of me now.

If you would like to help me make the finals in the BiB’s then you can vote HERE.

And thank you so much to anyone who nominated me xx

And if you do enjoy my craft posts then here is a little taste of what I’ve been up to on my other blog Let’s Do Something Crafty.
