Karcher Steam Cleaner Review

(photos lost in blog migration, will add when found)

I have always been a fairly messy person, in a clothes on the floor type way as oppose to a mouldy plates on the floor type way.

A bit of mess never used to bother me, in fact I used to quite like it and can remember at one time saying that I could find things easier when they weren’t put away.

Then I became a Mum.

Now I would do anything to be able to see my floors and walk up my stairs without tripping over dirty washing, shoes, toys and packs of toilet paper that no-one thought to pick up on the way up.

Things were bad enough when we just had Cherry but now Tiger is here trying to keep our house clean and tidy has turned into an impossible task. Cherry is like a magpie and will cling onto any piece of crap that catches her eye and although Tiger can’t actually make any mess the nappies, wipes, nappy bags and spare clothes that need to be within a one metre radius of him aren’t helping. Nor is the fact that Cherry has developed an obsession with putting her bits of crap in these nappy bags and hanging them from anywhere she can.

I feel like I all I do these days is try and keep my house clean. There are certain products out there that make life easier but Mr C usually doesn’t agree to us buying them as he doesn’t deem them necessary – this is how he felt about getting a dishwasher until I had morning sickness and he actually had to do the washing-up every day for weeks. Guess what we now have in our kitchen?!

A steam cleaner is another product that I have wanted for a long time. We have lino flooring all through the downstairs of our house and mopping is a nightmare with kids as it takes too long to dry so I had taken to getting down on my hands and knees to clean it with wipes, until I was asked if I wanted to review a Karcher Steam Cleaner that is!

I’m sure you can imagine how excited I was when it turned up, even Mr C was impressed when he saw it was made by Karcher who apparently make jet washers – something which I obviously had no idea about!

We unpacked the box, the cleaner comes with various attachments for doing different jobs around the house.

You put in water, switch it on and in 6 minutes it’s ready to use. The steam gun has a high and low setting and also a child-proof lock.

So far I have cleaned my floors, my oven (including around all the edges that a sponge couldn’t reach) and the built up scum around the hob that I didn’t actually think would ever budge, around my taps and cleaned the grouting around my kitchen tiles and not only is using the steam cleaner fun but it does an amazing job, killing 99.99% of bacteria, without the need for any chemicals – something which is important to me since having kids. I tend to buy the natural cleaning products but if I’m honest I do find they usually don’t work.

This product makes life so much easier and is so versatile, it can be used on pretty much anything even to freshen up carpet and upholstery. I am looking forward to cleaning my windows next!

And the best part is that it does the job super quickly.

This product is priced at £219.99 which is a bit of an investment but it makes life SO much easier and you do save money because you no longer need to buy a various selection of cleaning products. They do it in a variety of sizes and there is also a smaller one which is cheaper. I personally think that every mum deserves to own one of these cleaners!

Disclaimer: I was sent a steam cleaner free of charge for the purpose of this review. All of the words and opinions are my own.
