Hi, my name is Jess, I have two children, Cherry (13) and Tiger (11). I have a partner, Matt, who I went to school with and been happily unmarried to for 20 years.
We are currently living on the south coast of England but I moved around a lot when I was growing up and am always looking for new adventures.
I started Along Came Cherry nearly five years ago when Cherry was a baby who didn’t sleep. It was originally a parenting blog but now it’s more of a family lifestyle blog with a real focus on vegan eating, home education, upcycling, beach life and travel. We decided to home educate the children about 18 months ago, I know it’s not for everyone but we love it. I run a monthly linky with a few other home educating bloggers called This Homeschooling Life and I think for anyone thinking of home educating it’s a great way to way to learn about just how differently each family does things.
When I started blogging I had no idea where or what it would lead to, I just did it because I wanted to share my story. It quickly became such a passion of mine and I spent all my spare time working on it then after a couple years I started getting some work opportunities and now I’m pleased to have had the chance to work with some amazing companies. I never dreamt I could earn a living through blogging and although it’s by no means easy (I work more than full-time hours!) I wouldn’t want to do anything else.
We love being outdoors and exploring new places and we are very much a creative family. Matt has a YouTube channel (Urchfab) and works on old cars, he transforms them into all kinds of amazing things. He also drifts cars so we spend lots of time at hot rod shows or car events.
Then Cherry and I are really into crafting. I won an award in the craft category of the BiB’s last year then decided to set up a new website to share all the things we make. It’s called Let’s Do Something Crafty and has a real focus on simple family crafts, it reached the finals of two national blog awards last year. I am also a crochet addict so there is lots of my crocheted creations featured over there.
I’ve recently set up an Etsy shop called Disco Sloth Designs where I am selling the unique crocheted items I make.
I’ve also recently set up a new fitness blog called Jessica Lily Fitness.
Along Came Cherry has been featured in At Home magazine and Docrafts Creativity magazine.
