The photo I’m using this week is really bad quality as it was taken in the dark. Plus Cherry is pulling a weird face and I look like I am trying to eat my hand (I was leaning on it!) but it definitely represents an ordinary moment.
Everyone in our house has had colds this week and Cherry woke up coughing the other night and started screaming every time Mr C tried to put her back to bed so she ended up downstairs with us. Then when I went to bed and she was still refusing to go in her own room I asked if she wanted to come and sleep in our bed.
I know people say you should never bring them in your bed as they will never sleep back in their own room again but we’ve never found this to be the case. Whenever she’s been ill she’s always slept in our bed and the odd occasion she’s woken up in the night she will come in but she loves her room and usually asks to go back to her bed again so I’m pretty relaxed about it. It was actually really lovely, we were whispering to each other so we didn’t wake J up and giggling about all kinds of things. After an hour of fidgeting and her still not sleeping though she went down to watch telly with Mr C before finally agreeing to go back in her own bed, at midnight!
Sleep is a big issue in our house at the moment, J is sleeping so badly that it doesn’t make much difference whether Cherry joins in but I’m sure it would add to the stress if we had two kids waking us up every hour so luckily it was a one-off.
Which made it a very lovely, ordinary moment.
