Tips to create a luxurious bedroom
Now, more than ever, we need a sanctuary away from the stresses of life. A place to relax, get a good night’s sleep, and feel spoilt. That’s why creating a luxurious bedroom space is a really great idea. Get that five-star hotel feeling at home with these tips.
Wooden flooring
Stylish, modern, and long-lasting, a hardwood parquet floor provides an elegant backdrop to the whole room. Keep it contemporary with a chevron or herringbone pattern. Go for a hardwood like oak or maple, which will cost around £60 – £80 per square metre. Don’t be put off by parquet flooring prices, it’s a big investment but it will last a lifetime.
A beautiful bed
Nothing says a comfortable night’s sleep like a beautiful sleigh bed, topped with quality bedding, extra pillows, and a soft throw. Sleigh beds cost from around £400 upwards, but they certainly look the part. Choose a grand wooden frame or an opulent looking upholstered version. Don’t skimp on the bedding. Go for high thread counts and cotton sateen sheets for a softer feel.
Hide clutter
No one can sleep soundly with mess all around them. Clear any clutter out of sight. If you don’t have enough space to put all your clothes, shoes, and bits and pieces away, you have two options. The easiest and cheapest one is to have a good clear out. The other option is to consider a built-in wardrobe with racks and shelving, built to fit your belongings in a neat way.
Dress the window
Don’t forget to give your bedroom window some attention. Whether you go for curtains, blinds, or shutters, you should make sure it’s dressed to impress. A pair of floor length heavy curtains will look great on a large window, but smaller windows may suit well-made blinds or stylish shutters. If you’re not sure how to design your window dressings, you could call in the experts. There are companies who specialise in installing shutters and other window hangings.
Palatial lighting
Finally, don’t forget to provide a stunning focal point for your new luxurious bedroom. A showstopping light doesn’t need to be expensive, it just needs to look the part. Go for something contemporary and visually appealing. A metal and glass fitting will look more modern and luxurious than a standard fabric lightshade.
