Seventeen days and counting until the biggest day of the year arrives. It’s almost impossible not to get excited about Christmas because it’s such as an amazing time. Not only do you get to eat excellent food, watch lots of festive movies and open presents, but you do it with the people you love. So, the idea of upping sticks and leaving the country doesn’t sound appealing. After all, you would leave behind everything you like about the festive season. Still, Xmas in a foreign country is a holiday you should consider and these are the reasons why.
Different Cultures And Customs
Are you dreaming of a white Christmas? Everyone in the Northern Hemisphere is because it’s the quintessential Xmas gift. However, there are countries which hate the idea snow falling on the 25th of December. To them, Christmas Day is about breaking out the BBQ and sunbathing in 30-degree heat. Although it sounds like the worst, it is something everyone should try at least once in their lifetime. The Australians, just like the South Africans and South Americans, seem to love it and you could, too. You never know until you try!
A White Christmas
Of course, you don’t have to travel to a hot country. Instead, you can double down and head to the Arctic Circle for the ultimate Christmas experience. At this time of the year, countries like Norway and Finland are covered in snow and will be until the springtime. So, you and the whole family can enjoy a magical festive season, just like the one in the movies. Sure, it might be expensive for snow, but it may be the only chance you get as global warming worsens. Plus, you may catch a glimpse of Santa Claus is you’re lucky.
Adrenaline Rush
Wherever there is snow, there are extreme winter activities such as skiing and bobsleighing. After all, why not take advantage of the elements? Spending a day on the slopes isn’t very Christmassy for some as they prefer to sit in front of the fire and watch TV. But, you have to admit that it gets a bit boring from time to time. Anyway, the average person doesn’t get to relax as they have to complete their last minute shopping. On the slopes, you can get away from the usual rigours and let the ice-cold wind rush scorch your extremities with Lapland winter fun for adults. Oh, and the lodge will have a roaring fire to help you warm up afterwards.
No Cooking Required
If you are the one who slaves over a hot stove on the 25th, take note: someone will do it for you. Yep, sorry to say but all those years you have been fretting over getting the Xmas dinner right been in vain. When you book a winter vacation with all the trimmings, the accommodation takes care of the food. All you have to do is sit back and enjoy while Santa’s helpers slave away. And, you don’t even need to wash the dishes!
If you weren’t considering it before, you should be now.
