Exercise is obviously a great and important thing to do, and we should all make sure that we are doing it as much as possible, and as effectively as possible. But no matter who you are, you are occasionally going to experience pain resulting from exercise, and when this happens it’s important that you know what to do about it. Warm-Up & Cool-Down
One of the most important ways you can avoid pain happening altogether is to ensure that you warm up and cool down before and after each workout session. Most of us know this, but we don’t always remember to do it. Or you might not actually know the best way to do it, either. A good warm-up or cool-down should gently stretch the entire body and allow your body to limber up fully. If you are doing this every time, your risk of injury and pain is going to be greatly reduced, so it’s really important that you are remembering to do this.
Stop If It Hurts
A really important point is to make sure that you are ceasing the activity altogether if it starts hurting. The truth is that pain is a sign something is wrong, and you should not push through if you are feeling genuine pain in your body anywhere. A little discomfort is normal, and a sign that you are working yourself just hard enough. But if you have serious pain, stop immediately. You might be causing yourself damage, and you will certainly be making the pain worse in the long run too, so it’s best not to make that mistake.
Seek Pain Relief
If you are feeling pain, it’s always wise to seek some pain relief. There is no shame in this, despite what some people seem to think. There is, indeed, no reason to suffer for no good reason. If you are in pain, just use a pain relief of your choice, whether it’s a painkiller like ibuprofen or paracetamol, or whether you go down an alternative route and use CBD gel for pain relief or something else similar. Just make sure you don’t needlessly suffer for no good reason. There’s no point.
Adopt A Better Mindset
In truth, all pain is really subjective, and if you can have a better control over your mind, you will find that it is easier to keep your pain levels low too. Often, just adopting a better mindset and attitude towards pain is all you need to do to ensure that you are managing it a lot better. So, what kind of mindset might that be? For one, you might want to adopt some patience and appreciate that all pain goes away soon enough. It’s also helpful to not overdo it in your mind or resist it – in the resistance is the suffering.
