COST OF ACTIVITIES FOR SINGLE PARENTS

by Jessica Amey

Depending on your circumstances life as a single parent can mean you end up in a less stable financial situation than those in families with two parents. Especially in a situation where you have two working parents compared to one parent who isn’t working., for that reason you would think that the offers that a lot of companies offer to families would benefit single parent families too but research shows that they don’t.

I’m going to share an infographic with you which shows the price difference between two parent families of two children and single parents of two children. I have occasionally seen single parent offers when I’ve been on days out but not that often, it definitely needs to be something that all companies offer now as it’s not fair otherwise and kids could be missing out on doing these things because their parents can’t afford it.

I know I have noticed a difference when taking the kids to the cinema if Matt isn’t coming, when he’s there we can buy a family ticket which works out at a really good price but when it’s just me and the kids there isn’t an offer.

According to this research a third of children in a single parent family are living on poverty and one in ten single parent families have used a food bank or payday lender. We struggle enough as a two parent family so it must be especially hard when you are the only one responsible for paying everything.
