Tips On Saving For The Future

by Jessica Amey

I have to admit I am not the best at saving money, I’m more of a splurge today, eat beans on toast for dinner tomorrow kind of spender but I have now reached point in my life where I should really be thinking about saving my the future.

I’m not really a big spender when it comes to things but I do spend a lot on fitness, tattoos and eating out.

Even saving money in a few places can add up though and there are little changes you can make in your everyday life so I thought I would share a few with you..

Buy Second-Hand
Whether clothes, toys, electrical items or cars, buying second hand is not only better for the environment but also your bank balance. Charity shops, eBay, Gumtree and Facebook Marketplace are all great places to look. I personally love Facebook Marketplace as you can put in anything and it will bring up everything locally. I got all the kids Christmas presents on there last year.

Look At Investing Money
If you want to get more from your money then you could look at investing, obviously there is some risk involved so speaking to a financial advisor is recommended but Wealthifys investment app could be a good option if this is something you want to go ahead with.

Sign Up For Supermarket Loyalty Cards
I actually need to take my own advice and sign up for a Morrisons card as it’s my nearest supermarket. I do have a Tesco clubcard and a Waitrose card though and both as great. They regularly send out money off vouchers, Waitrose especially send out about 6 £8 off when you spend £40 vouchers which is a great saving I think. You can also save up Tesco clubcard points to use for days out.

Buy An Locked Piggy Bank
Having a giant piggy bank that can’t be opened means you can just chuck any loose change in and over time it will start to add up.

Meal Plan
This is a big one for me as I save lots when I plan meals and don’t just go to the supermarket every day to buy random food. It does take a lot of planning and I don’t always stick to it but it’s a great way to not waste food too.

So those are just a few things I do to save some cash.
