Dulux Bedroom in a Box Review

I love painting, there is something so satisfying about transforming a room with a brush.

Dulux, the paint company known for quality, have teamed up with Walltastic and added a new product to their line – The Bedroom IN-A-BOX and I’ve been sent one so that I can tell you all about it.

The idea behind Bedroom in a box is that you can transform you child’s room without any of the hard work that usually comes with decorating. Everything you need comes in the box.

It comes in two designs: Jungle Adventure and Fairy Princess.

I chose the Jungle Adventure box as it will appeal to both boys and girls.

Each box comes with a tin of paint for the walls (2.5l), a tin of paint for the skirting boards, some wallpaper adhesive and a mural (L10 x H8 feet). There is a calculator to help you determine if you need more paint and if you do then there is an option to add another tin.

The photo below shows the Jungle Adventure design and it really does make you feel like you are part of the scene, something which kids will absolutely love.

One thing I did notice is that the box comes with matt paint, I personally would find that a bit of an issue as I find matt paint marks too easily especially with kids. I think offering a choice between matt or silk paint might be a good idea as silk is so much durable.

If you have a little girl who loves pink and princesses then you might want to see this…

Cherry started screaming with delight when she saw it, she shares a room with J though and I don’t think he would appreciate pink walls and life-size princesses surrounding him while he sleeps!

Overall I think it’s a great idea and is a really quick way of giving your child a room they will love. There are some new designs to be added to the collection soon too – Sea Adventure, Peppa Pig, Avengers and Wall Art.

What do you think, is this something you would think about using for your kid’s bedroom?

The kits are available to buy now for £70 and if you would like to find out more then you can here – Jungle Adventure or Fairy Princess.

Brilliant. Those kits look liked a great idea. It would definitely be an improvement if you could choose the type of paint and different types of murals. I prefer the more subtle sticker murals that don’t cover so much of the wall so maybe they could include those too. I need to paint our whole house so need inspiration! 🙂 x

Oh my! I don’t think I dare show the princesses to Kitty! I think it could be lots of fun for a playroom but I’m not sure about it for a bedroom, I’m not sure the little ones would ever get to sleep it would just be too exciting!

  3. I do think this is a great idea, yes. Everybody needs inspiration from somewhere when it comes to decorating for children! However, I’d like to see less obvious gender splitting and like Claire, maybe some subtler sticker murals for more choice. Huge Disney ladies dancing above anybody’s bed is a bit of a mind boggle!

We have the jungle one and it’s a great idea to have everything you need on one packaged – takes all the stress out of it and it’s perfect for those who have not done that much re-decorating as it’s all easy to use 🙂 Lovely post

I can see that lots of parents would love these as an easy option for decorating a child’s room. They’re not my style though x

I think this is a great idea, and it’s a shame that there’s only two designs at the moment (and they they seem really gendered – pink princesses especially!) Would be interesting if they had a bit more choice x

These are great if you don’t have the time or energy to pick everything individually… Baya is in love with the princess one!

super disappointing these aren’t more gender neutral, but saying that ..if you have a princess loving child this fits the bill! i saw the pinkish colour somewhere and it looks really nice though.

I love the jungle box! We have a jungle themed baby room so I’m just a little bit biased! x

These look great and kits are always the way forward. Parents need fast, effective, and efficient in everything. Love them! Sounds like they will have a lot of options soon too. That’s great. Thanks for sharing.

Surely the jungle themed one is gender neutral? If people are saying it’s for boys then that’s stereotyping in itself.

Personally i think they are a bit much and would irritate me after about 10 minutes but i can see kids would like them 😉 x

  12. I agree with the comments about the gender bias here – why couldn’t they just have a couple of choices – maybe a fairground and a farmyard? Surely we are past the whole princess vs adventure thing now?

  13. I can see how it’s a quick way to get it all if you’re pressed for time. For me, choosing everything is part of the fun though. Like the rest of the house, Talitha’s room is pretty eclectic. Looks like there are a lot fun options though.

I know when I was a little girl I would have died for that princess mural! I was princess obsessed like Cherry! x

I love this…we find decorating a bit of a challenge and so the idea of everything coming in a box that we can just pick up and go is definitely great. I would be up for more subtle murals…maybe that don’t cover an entire wall but that aside I love the fact you can pick it up and go, job done!
