LAST MINUTE HOLIDAYS ON THE RISE, EGYPT HITS THE TOP SPOT FOR KENT!

by Jessica Amey

According to Google, last-minute holiday searches are on the rise. This doesn’t surprise me to be honest as if we were going to book a holiday I would always do it last minute. It’s the way I can remember my mum finding holidays (on good old teletext!!) and you can get some amazing deals. Obviously it’s not an option for everyone to just pack up and leave quickly, sometimes as soon as the next day, but if it is then it’s a great way to do it.

For instance if the forecast looks bad and you had some extra cash one week month then why not just book a holiday?!

Have you ever stopped to wonder whether there are any location trends depending on where you live in the UK though? Is someone from Nottingham just as likely to book a holiday to the same place as someone from Cornwall? Well leading online travel agency LoveHolidays analysed their last minute booking data to see the top places for different locations across the UK.

The results are really interesting, the top destinations do actually vary from place to place. So down here in Dorset, Malta is the top destination with Morocco coming second. Whereas in Kent, the top destination is Egypt followed by Cyprus.

Liverpudlians love the Greek Islands and are three times more likely to book a holiday there than any other part of the country! I have to agree with them on this and it’s the place I would choose for a holiday too. However Mancunians love Barbados and Brummies love Jamaica!

Londoners seem to be more adventurous with their last minute holiday locations with long haul hot destinations like St Lucia and Sri Lanka ranking highly. Bookings to Jamaica from London were also over four times the national average.

You can find the interative map here and enter where you live to find the top last minute holiday destinations from your location. You can also search holidays by price, weather, budget or board instead of just destination.
