Disney On Ice

by Jessica Amey

A couple of weeks ago we went to see Disney On Ice in Cardiff and it was so good!

It was showing in the Motorpoint Arena which was a lot more central than I thought it would be, luckily we left lots of time as we had to park in a huge multi-storey car park then walk over.

The show is about two hours long and covers half an hour of The Little Mermaid, Tangled, Beauty and the Beast and of course Frozen with characters like Mickey Mouse making an appearance in-between.

We went to see it after a really busy few days so it was all a bit much for Tiger. He sat there for half an hour looking unimpressed then had a total melt-down as he was so tired but struggling to fall asleep. He was screaming so much that Mr C had to take him out. After falling asleep he brought him back in and then he slept for the rest of it which is a shame as he loves Elsa but it did mean we got to relax and enjoy the rest of the show without worrying about him disturbing everyone.

The performers were all so talented and I just found it amazing how they could spin so much then just skate off as normal. Skating is a skill in itself but being able to dance whilst doing it too is something else, I can barely even stand up on skates.

I actually found parts of it really emotional, what has happened to me?! Especially when Belle and the Beast fell in love and Rapunzel and Flinn did the dance with the lanterns, it was so lovely.

Then of course there was Elsa’a performance which may have resulted in a few tears 😉

There is a clip of her dance in the video at the end and she honestly spins about 50 times, it was unbelievable!

There were lots of effects too like big sparks coming down from the ceiling and snow during the Frozen part.

We absolutely loved it and the only negative thing I have to say is about those flashing wands all the kids have, they are so annoying! And they were charging £20 for them!!!

My top tip would be to buy them from the men standing round the corner if your kids are going to want one as they are so much cheaper. Also take your own snacks because a bag of popcorn was about a tenner!

Disney on Ice itself was fab though and if you have some Disney fans then I would definitely recommend it.

Have you seen it?

And here is the video if you want to see it in action, if you skip to about half way through as the first half is about a craft fair.

We were sent complimentary tickets to see the show, all opinions are my own.
