Mr C found it rather hilarious last night listening to me editing a video about how to make a cheese and bean toastie BUT if you get it wrong then the filling can all leak out and it can make the toasted sandwich really hard to eat, especially for kids, so this way means you can pick it up and eat it like a normal sandwich.
It’s all about the positioning of the filling!
Plus I’m sure there are teenagers out there who might not know how to do something this simple, I had to teach my brother how to open a tin when he was about 15. And he phone me the other day to ask how to make porridge! Every teenager should know how to make toasties though, I lived on them when I was a teenager. I mention in the video about how my favourite type used to have supernoodles and cheese in! How gross is that?!!
And although I try to limit my wheat and sugar intake these days sometimes a cheese and bean toastie is all that will do, the combination goes so well together.
I made my toasted sandwich using the Sage AdjustGrill that I was sent last week to review and now I want to talk a bit about this awesome piece of equipment. Now I know I’ve written a post about how I don’t post entirely negative reviews but I do always try and give some constructive criticism on a product and I know people say they don’t believe a review when it’s all positive but I can promise you I don’t have anything negative to say about this. It has changed my life already and I’ve used it nearly every day since it arrived.
I go through how it works in the video below but due to the lid having different height setting you can either have it touching the food or above the food. So far I have grilled halloumi in it, veggie burgers, toasted sandwiches, potato waffles (for the kids) and chicken wrapped in bacon. I am usually terrible at cooking chicken but this makes it so easy and the chicken was perfectly cooked and not dry at all. Plus it only took about 5 minutes!
You can make all kinds of meat in it and it will be so great for burgers as all the fat drips out to the tray at the bottom. It has different heat settings and is a really good size, we cooked four big chicken breasts in it and there was still plenty of room around them.
And the best bit is you can stand it up so that it doesn’t take up too much room on your work surface.
I have mentioned many times about my dislike of cooking and preparing meals but this makes my life so much easier as it’s just so quick to cook food in it. It’s also super easy to clean afterwards due to the non-stick coating.
I honestly LOVE IT and can’t imagine not having one now. I’ve got lots of things I’m looking forward to cooking on it too like homemade veggie burgers and griddled vegetables. You can also make pancakes etc on it.
You can find out more about it over here, it’s priced at £99.95 which I think is a really good price considering how much you can do with it. If you haven’t heard of Sage then it’s Heston Blumenthal’s range of cooking products and I’ve only heard good things about them. There is a high speed blender called ‘The Boss’ that I’m rather desperate to get my hands on!
So I will leave you with my video on making the perfect cheese and bean toastie, let me know if you get through it without laughing, I bet you won’t though 😉
We were sent the AdjustaGrill free of charge for the purpose of this review. All words and opinions are my own.
