When the current health pandemic is properly under control, you might feel more comfortable holidaying with your family in the UK rather than abroad ̶ at least for a while.
But if you’re thinking along these lines, how can you pick the perfect location when there are so many places to choose from?
With its first-rate hospitality, excellent shopping and sublime surrounding countryside, Yorkshire’s Leeds is a pretty good pick, and there’s loads of entertainment for kids too.
Sounds interesting? These five tips for a Leeds family staycation should seal the deal!
- Tropical World
Located in Roundhay Park, Tropical World houses the UK’s largest collection of tropical plants outside of Kew Gardens, but kids love seeing the resident exotic fish, butterflies, lizards and snakes
too. There are several diverse environments, including a tropical island complete with tumbling waterfall, an Amazon tank holding humungous catfishes and an Amazon House with white faced
whistling ducks!
Tip: check out the excellent Tropical World TripAdvisor reviews. - Go Ape
Nestled in an elegant country estate that features a 500-year-old mansion and expansive woodlands, Go Ape is an awesome attraction just 4 miles from Leeds city centre that active kids will absolutely
love. Suitable for any child aged 6 years old and at least 1m tall, there are treetop assault courses, Tarzan swings, zip lines and more.
Tip: children aged 15 and under must be supervised by adults, but 16- and 17-year olds are free to explore on their own. - Meanwood Valley Urban Farm
A peaceful oasis just two miles From Leeds city centre, Meanwood Valley Urban Farm is an eco- friendly working farm that gives children who might be more used to urban environments the
chance to reconnect with nature and learn all about agriculture. As well as farm animals like cows, there are wild birds, bees, a wildflower meadow, serene woodlands and gorgeous gardens.
Tip: Leeds car hire from Enjoy allows you to explore similar attractions across Yorkshire. - Hollywood Bowl
Tenpin bowling is a terrific family activity and at Hollywood Bowl in the city itself, kids aged four and over can try to strike it lucky on the bowling lanes, play lively arcade games and chill out with a
selection of snacks and drinks. Unlike some other bowling emporiums, food and drinks are served at your lane, which saves time, hassle and mess!
Tip: bumpers and light balls are available for young first-time bowlers. - Teamsport Indoor Karting
If your child is a budding Lewis Hamilton, they’ll love testing their mettle against other drivers at Teamsport Indoor Karting Leeds.
Yorkshire’s longest indoor karting course has 580m of racing tarmac and a challenging course that includes no less than 12 turns, which means every race is thrilling! The minimum age for a junior kart is 8 years old, so this isn’t suitable for very young kids.
Tip: browse the official Teamsport website for more information ahead of your visit.
We hope we’ve convinced you that Leeds is the right location for your staycation ̶ you can thank us later!
