Giving My Christmas Wreath A Crafty Makeover

by Jessica Amey

When John Lewis asked me to take part in a crafty challenge to customise one of their Christmas wreaths I knew instantly it would involve crochet and animals, my two favourite things!

I chose the Into the Woods Snowy Eucalyptus Wreath because I liked the snow effect. They have lots of other wreaths too which you can find here. I also chose these LED lights in copper which I love, they are super bright and the copper effect is really lovely. They do get tangled easily though so watch out!

As well as my crocheted animals I couldn’t resist these wooden tiger decorations, I just loved them. I think they’ve sold out as I can’t find them on the website but they do have the monkeys from the same range.

I crocheted the little penguins and the fox, if anyone would like a tutorial then just let me know.

I put the lights on the wreath first then added all the animals and that was it! It’s a bit random but that sums up my style really!

The wreath is now hanging over our fireplace..

If you want to give your Christmas wreath a makeover then why not just add some of your favourite things, you can just add anything in! Or making pom poms would be a good way to customise it, there are so many tutorials for animal pom poms out there these days. Or you could make tissue paper flowers to add in… so many ideas!

Oh also, I’m joining in with Vlogmas this year and posting a new video every day on my YouTube channel. This is the day I decorated the Christmas wreath..
